Description

This Warm Vanilla Rice Pudding is a creamy, comforting dessert made with slow-simmered rice, milk, and fragrant vanilla. Smooth, gently sweet, and deeply satisfying, it’s a classic stovetop pudding perfect for cozy evenings, family desserts, or a soothing treat any time of the year.

Ingredients
    For the Rice Pudding Base
  • 1 cup short-grain white rice (rinsed well)
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp alcohol-free vanilla essence or seeds from ½ vanilla bean
  • 0 tsp salt
  • Optional Toppings (Choose as desired)
  • 2 tbsp raisins
  • 1 tbsp chopped almonds
  • 1 tbsp chopped pistachios
  • 0.25 0 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Honey or date syrup for drizzling
Instructions
    Rinse and Prepare the Rice
  1. 1
Rinse the rice under cold running water until the water runs mostly clear. This removes excess starch and helps create a creamy yet smooth pudding texture.
  2. Cook the Rice
  3. 2
In a heavy-bottom saucepan, add the rinsed rice and water. Cook over medium heat until the rice absorbs most of the water and becomes soft, about 8–10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. Add Milk and Simmer
  5. 3
Pour in the milk and add salt. Reduce heat to low and let the mixture gently simmer. Stir every 2–3 minutes to avoid scorching at the bottom. The pudding will slowly thicken as the rice releases starch.
  6. Sweeten and Flavor
  7. 4
Once the pudding looks creamy (after about 20 minutes), add sugar, butter, and alcohol-free vanilla essence or vanilla bean seeds. Stir well until everything is fully combined and glossy.
  8. Final Thickening
  9. 5
Continue cooking for another 5–7 minutes until the pudding reaches your desired consistency. Remember, it will thicken slightly more as it cools.
  10. Rest and Serve
  11. 6
Remove from heat and let the pudding rest for 5 minutes. Spoon into bowls and add your preferred toppings. Serve warm for the best comforting experience.
Note
  • For extra richness, replace 1 cup of milk with evaporated milk.
  • If the pudding thickens too much, stir in warm milk a little at a time before serving.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently with milk.
  • This recipe is 100% halal when alcohol-free vanilla is used.
