Ingredients
    For the Chicken:
  • 500 g boneless chicken breast (cut into 1-inch bite-size pieces)
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 cup cornstarch (for coating)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • Oil (for frying, sunflower or canola oil recommended)
  • For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
  • 0.25 cup honey (pure)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (halal-certified)
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tsp water – slurry for thickening)
  • For Garnish (Optional):
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (toasted)
  • 1 stalk green onions (sliced thin)
Instructions
    Prepare the Chicken
  1. 1
Pat dry the chicken pieces with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. Coat the Chicken
  3. 2
In a shallow dish, combine cornstarch and flour. Dip each chicken piece into the beaten eggs, then dredge in the flour-cornstarch mixture until well coated. Shake off excess.
  4. Fry the Chicken
  5. 3
Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet to 180°C. Fry chicken bites in batches (do not overcrowd) for about 5–6 minutes, turning halfway, until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. Make the Sauce
  7. 4
In a clean pan or wok, combine honey, soy sauce, water, vinegar, and minced garlic. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce becomes glossy and coats the back of a spoon.
  8. Toss the Chicken
  9. 5
Add the fried chicken bites into the sauce. Toss gently until each piece is well coated in the sticky honey garlic glaze.
  10. Serve
  11. 6
Transfer to a serving plate, sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions, and serve hot. Best enjoyed immediately while crispy and sticky!
Note
  • Make Ahead: You can fry the chicken bites in advance and refrigerate. Reheat in the oven before tossing in fresh sauce.
  • Healthier Version: Bake the coated chicken at 200°C for 20–22 minutes, flipping halfway, or cook in an air fryer for 15 minutes.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet; the sauce may thicken, so add a splash of water when reheating.
  • Variations: Add chili flakes or sriracha to the sauce for a spicy kick. Use chicken thighs for extra juiciness.
