Each golden bread bowl is brushed with garlic butter, filled with rich spaghetti marinara, and topped with melted mozzarella and parmesan cheese for the ultimate Italian-inspired dinner. Perfect for family gatherings, parties, or cozy nights in, these edible bowls are crispy on the outside, soft inside, and absolutely irresistible.

Ingredients
    For the Garlic Bread Bowls:
  • 4 small round bread loaves (about 4–5 inches wide)
  • 4 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 2 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (fresh)
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp dried oregano
  • For the Spaghetti Filling:
  • 200 g spaghetti noodles
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 300 g ground chicken or turkey
  • 2 cups tomato pasta sauce (marinara or homemade)
  • 0.5 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp dried basil
  • 0.25 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.25 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • For Garnish:
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • Extra parmesan or mozzarella (optional)
Instructions
    Prepare the Garlic Butter
  1. 1
In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, pepper, and oregano. Stir until smooth and well combined. Set aside at room temperature.
  2. Hollow Out the Bread Bowls
  3. 2
Cut off the tops of each bread loaf and gently hollow out the centers, leaving about 1 inch of bread around the sides and bottom. Be careful not to tear through the crust.
  4. Brush and Bake the Bread Bowls
  5. 3
Preheat the oven to 190°C. Place the hollowed bread bowls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the inside and outside generously with the prepared garlic butter. Bake for 10 minutes or until lightly crisp and golden. Remove and set aside.
  6. Cook the Spaghetti
  7. 4
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and toss lightly with 1 tablespoon of olive oil to prevent sticking.
  8. Prepare the Meat Sauce
  9. 5
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic; sauté until fragrant and translucent. Add ground chicken or turkey and cook until browned and cooked through. Stir in tomato pasta sauce, salt, pepper, dried basil, and chili flakes. Let simmer for 5–7 minutes to thicken slightly.
  10. Combine the Spaghetti and Sauce
  11. 6
Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the sauce. Toss well until the noodles are evenly coated with the sauce. Turn off the heat and mix in a handful of shredded mozzarella if desired for extra creaminess.
  12. Assemble the Garlic Bread Bowls
  13. 7
Fill each baked bread bowl with the spaghetti mixture. Top generously with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  14. Bake Until Cheesy and Golden
  15. 8
Place the filled bowls back into the oven and bake for another 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted and bubbly with golden edges.
  16. Garnish and Serve
  17. 9
Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and extra parmesan if desired. Serve warm and enjoy the combination of crispy garlic bread and cheesy spaghetti!
Note

You can use store-bought mini sourdough or dinner rolls for the bread bowls.

For a vegetarian version, skip the meat and add sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, or spinach.

To make ahead, prepare the spaghetti filling in advance and refrigerate for up to 2 days. Reheat before assembling.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for best texture.

Avoid reheating in the microwave as it may make the bread soggy.
