Description

A crunchy, tangy, and flavorful twist on traditional sandwiches, Pickle Sandwiches use large pickles as a bread substitute, filled with delicious meats, cheeses, and condiments. Perfect for low-carb, keto, and gluten-free diets, these sandwiches are easy to prepare and packed with zesty goodness.

Ingredients
    For the Base:
  • 2 large dill pickles (sliced lengthwise)
  • For the Filling:
  • 4 slices turkey or ham
  • 2 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or mustard
  • 1/4 cup shredded lettuce
  • 2 slices tomato
  • 1 tbsp red onion (thinly sliced)
Instructions
  1. 1
    Prepare the Pickles

Slice the large dill pickles lengthwise to create sandwich halves. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2
    Add Condiments

Spread mayonnaise or mustard on the inside of each pickle half.

  3. 3
    Assemble the Sandwich

Layer turkey or ham, cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion on one half of the pickle. Place the other pickle half on top to form a sandwich.

  4. 4
    Serve and Enjoy

Secure with toothpicks if needed and serve immediately. Optionally, slice the sandwiches in half for easier handling.

Note
  • For a spicy kick, use spicy pickles or add sliced jalapeƱos.
  • Experiment with different meats and cheeses for variety.
  • If pickles are too moist, blot them dry to prevent sogginess.
