Description

This creamy coffee panna cotta is a smooth, elegant dessert made with fresh cream, milk, and rich brewed coffee, set gently with agar-agar for a finish. Lightly sweetened and infused with deep coffee flavor, it’s an easy yet impressive dessert perfect for dinner parties or special occasions.

Ingredients
    For Coffee Panna Cotta Base
  • 1 cup fresh cream (full-fat)
  • 1 cup full cream milk
  • 2 tsp instant coffee powder (or ½ cup strong brewed coffee)
  • ⅓ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp agar-agar powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional Garnish
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder (for dusting)
  • Coffee beans (for decoration)
  • Whipped cream
Instructions
    Prepare the Agar-Agar
  1. 1
Add agar-agar powder to ¼ cup of the milk. Mix well and let it soak for 2 minutes to activate properly.
  2. Heat the Dairy
  3. 2
In a saucepan over low heat, add the remaining milk and fresh cream. Stir gently and heat until warm, not boiling.
  4. Add Coffee and Sugar
  5. 3
Add instant coffee powder and sugar to the warm cream mixture. Stir continuously until completely dissolved and smooth.
  6. Incorporate Agar-Agar
  7. 4
Add the soaked agar-agar mixture into the saucepan. Stir constantly and bring to a gentle simmer (around 90–95°C). Cook for 2–3 minutes to fully activate the agar.
  8. Flavor the Panna Cotta
  9. 5
Turn off the heat and stir in vanilla extract. Mix well for even flavor distribution.
  10. Pour and Set
  11. 6
Carefully pour the mixture into serving glasses or molds. Let it cool at room temperature for 10 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 3–4 hours until fully set.
  12. Garnish and Serve
  13. 7
Before serving, dust with cocoa powder or top with whipped cream and coffee beans for a refined finish.
Note

Agar-agar sets faster than gelatin, so work quickly once heated.

Do not boil aggressively, as it can affect texture.

This dessert stays fresh in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

For a layered dessert, pour a chocolate or vanilla layer on top after the coffee layer sets halfway.
