Description

A smooth and refreshing Coconut Matcha Cloud Drink made with creamy coconut milk, vibrant ceremonial matcha, and a light, frothy cloud topping. This trendy beverage is naturally dairy-free, gently energizing, and perfect for anyone who loves café-style drinks with a clean, tropical twist.

Ingredients
    For the Matcha Base
  • 1 tsp ceremonial grade matcha powder (sifted)
  • 2 tbsp hot water (75°C, not boiling)
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • For the Coconut Layer
  • 200 ml full-fat coconut milk (well shaken)
  • 1–2 tsp sugar or condensed coconut milk (optional, to taste)
  • 3–4 ice cubes
  • For the Cloud Foam
  • 3 tbsp coconut cream (thick part only)
  • 2 tbsp cold coconut milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
    Preparing the Matcha
  1. 1
Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove lumps. Add hot water at around 75°C. Using a bamboo whisk or small hand whisk, whisk the matcha in a zigzag motion until fully dissolved and slightly frothy. Stir in honey or maple syrup while the matcha is still warm so it dissolves smoothly. Set aside.
  2. Creating the Coconut Base
  3. 2
In a glass, add ice cubes first. Pour in the coconut milk slowly to create a clean, chilled base. If you prefer a sweeter drink, stir in sugar or condensed coconut milk until fully combined.
  4. Layering the Matcha
  5. 3
Gently pour the prepared matcha over the coconut milk using the back of a spoon. This helps maintain a beautiful layered effect with green matcha floating above the white coconut layer.
  6. Making the Cloud Foam
  7. 4
In a small bowl or jar, combine coconut cream, cold coconut milk, and vanilla extract. Use a handheld frother or whisk vigorously until light, airy, and cloud-like in texture.
  8. Final Assembly
  9. 5
Spoon the coconut cloud foam generously over the matcha layer. Serve immediately without stirring for a visually stunning drink, or mix gently before drinking for a creamy, balanced flavor.
Note

Always avoid boiling water for matcha, as high heat makes it bitter.

Use full-fat coconut milk for the creamiest texture.

You can serve this drink warm by skipping ice and gently heating the coconut milk.

For extra richness, add a teaspoon of coconut butter to the coconut layer.
